While expectations suggest he may not exceed 3.5 shots on goal—a feat he has accomplished in nearly 46% of games this season—the odds at +122 (FanDuel) hint at a 45% probability. This suggests there's value in betting on him to outperform these predictions.

The Penguins are currently facing challenges, with injuries to key centers Jansen Harkins and Noel Acciari, making Crosby's role even more pivotal. Evgeni Malkin, as Crosby's support, hasn’t been at his best recently, with less than 2.5 shots on goal in his last 10 games and limited scoring success. Furthermore, the Penguins are up against the Devils, who have shown weaknesses in defense, being ranked 18th in shots on goal and 30th in blocked shots. Despite the Penguins and Devils having similar season records, these factors could offer Crosby a prime opportunity to excel.

However, Purdue presents a significant challenge with their size advantage, boasting an average starter height of over 6'6", and Edey standing at an imposing 7'4". Edey's performance has not gone unnoticed, earning him acclaim as one of the top players in college basketball, with strong indications of an NBA future. Purdue's favoritism in the upcoming game, indicated by an 8.5-point lead, can largely be attributed to this size and skill advantage, posing a formidable challenge for NC State.
